iFixit tore open the Trump Phone and found almost everything inside came from HTC.
The repair site's teardown revealed the Trump-branded handset's internals are nearly identical to the HTC U24 Pro. The only functional difference iFixit could identify was the battery. In hardware terms, the two phones are effectively the same device under different skins.
Rebranded hardware is common enough — carriers and regional resellers have long sold house-labeled phones built on OEM chassis, often without disclosing the original manufacturer. The pointed question is what the Trump name implies that HTC's doesn't, and whether buyers expecting something distinct got it.
HTC, the Taiwanese company behind the original hardware, once competed seriously for flagship Android sales but has been a marginal player in the global market for years. The Trump Phone, it turns out, may be as good a deal as HTC has gotten recently.
