Samsung's June software update is filling a hole its own One UI 8.5 launch quietly left open.
When One UI 8.5 rolled out to Galaxy S25 handsets, three AI features that were part of the update's pitch didn't make it: Prioritize Notifications, Summarize Notifications, and File Summaries. Samsung shipped the update anyway. The June patch now delivers all three to S25 owners who were presumably already wondering why their "AI phone" was a few promised features short.
The gap matters more than the fix. Samsung has made Galaxy AI a centerpiece of its flagship marketing — the implicit argument being that S25 hardware justifies a premium partly because of what the software layer does with it. Shipping an AI-branded update without the AI features, then correcting it weeks later, is a quiet but telling sign of how rushed AI rollout timelines have become across the industry.
Apple has faced similar pressure rolling out Apple Intelligence in stages, though it has been more explicit about which features land in which software versions. Samsung's approach here - announce, ship incomplete, patch later - is less transparent, and the people who bought on the strength of the feature list are the ones who notice first.
