Apple's redesigned Siri, rebuilt on a large language model foundation, will ship this fall alongside iOS 27 for every device that already runs Apple Intelligence.
Apple announced Siri AI at its WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8. The assistant gains a chatbot-style interface and can read through emails, calendar entries, messages, and files to generate context-aware answers. It handles natural language queries far more complex than the old Siri's rigid command structure. Hardware eligibility mirrors existing Apple Intelligence requirements: iPhone 15 Pro or later, or any iPad or Mac with an M1 chip or newer. A context-free slide that circulated after the keynote briefly convinced parts of the internet that only 2024-vintage hardware qualified. It does not.
Early hands-on testing in the iOS 27 developer beta suggests the upgrade is substantive. Complex Apple Music queries, like cross-referencing a multi-year tour setlist against a streaming library and adding results to a playlist on the fly with a voice command, worked accurately on the first try. That is a meaningful jump from an assistant that routinely played the wrong song on request.
Apple has announced capable-sounding Siri features before that arrived thinner than the slides implied. The fall general release will be the real test.
